The recently commissioned Katsina State Agricultural Mechanisation Centre is to be reflected in a smaller structure in each of the 34 local government areas ofe state.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon.Bishir Tanimu Gambo alongside Special Adviser Department of Local Government Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana disclosed this on Thursday at a meeting with the 34 Chairmen of the local councils of the state in Katsina.
The Commissioner explained that the establishment a small structure of the Centre as directed by the government, is to be located at the premises of the Secretariat of each local government area.
Hon.Bishir Tanimu also stated that the structure was uniformly designed and already on ground.
He said the target was to ensure that only farmers within the state are well equipped with qualitative farming equipment adding that each Tractor has tracker to avoid diversion to neighbouring local government areas or even outside the state.
According to him, 400 Tractors are on the ground and each of the 34 local government areas will be allocated with 10 Tractors for leasing not outright purchase
The Commissioner however pointed out that an Engineer will also e deployed to each LGA to take care of servicing and other maintenance of the implement when the need arise.
He therefore disclosed that the state Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has given three weeks ultimatum for the local councils Chairmen to establish Small Agricultural Mechanisation Centres, as 50% fund’s for the contract will be released within the week.
