Be alive to your duties, Katsina LG zonal inspectors charged

The Special Adviser Katsina State Department of Local Government Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana has charged Local Government Resident Inspectors to be agile in the course of the duties assigned to them.

He gave the charge on Wednesday at a meeting with Zonal and Resident Inspectors of the 34 local government areas of the state at the Conference Hall of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Katsina.

Hon Lawal Rufa’i warned them to continuously updating themselves on any activity related to their respective local government area and ensure that they attend any meeting conveyed or arranged by either Chairman of the Local Council or Departmental for record keeping.

He translated to them the role expected of them considering the powers bestowed to them which according to him was backed by law that established their functions.

The Special Adviser however pointed out that the agility of any Local Government Inspector in his assignment will surely upgrade the functions of local government administration thereby moving the system forward.

Hon Rufa’i Safana also became aware of some lopsidedness in job compared to olden days thereby charging them to imbibe the spirit of studying the law that established them and must provide periodic reports to the Department.

The Special Adviser therefore warned that his Department will not condone laxity as anyone found wanting will outrightly be replaced with a serious.

Later the meeting went on closed doors with a motive to discuss critical challenges and other issues.
