FG supplies 6,000 bags of subsidised rice to Kebbi

The Kebbi State Government has applauded the Federal Government for supplying 6,000 bags of subsidised rice to the state for onward sales to people at N40,000 per 50kg bag.

Hon. Zayyanu Aliero, Commissioner for Special Duties, made the commendation while flagging off the sales in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

He said the commendation became imperative in view of the fact that the gesture would go a long way in cushioning the scourge of present economic hardship.

The commissioner confirmed that the Kebbi State Government had received 6,000 50kg of rice to be sold out to public at a subsidised rate of N40,000 per bag.

Aliero said of the total number, 5,000 bags would be sold to state civil servants while, 1,000 bags would be sold to federal civil servants resident in the state.

He explained that the Kebbi State Government was ever grateful to the Federal Government for its continues efforts to address the plights of the general public.

The commissioner appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the item for the good of their families.

…. Security operatives rescue abducted Kebbi  student

Security operatives in Kebbi State, have successfully rescued Augustine Madubiya, a final-year student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) abducted by unknown gunmen.

The victim, Madubiya, is final year student in the Department of Economics, taken away by the assailants.

However, during the raid, another student, Collineous Steven, a 200-level student of Business Administration, managed to escape.

Confirming the release of the victim, the Director, Security, Cabinet Office, AbdurRahman Zaga, said the student was rescued unhurt and reunited with his colleagues.

He assured that government had beefed up security in the area to stem recurrence of the incident.

The director appealed to the general public to always assist the security agencies with credible intelligence to aid them discharge their duties diligently.

He assured the readiness of the present administration to provide all the necessary logistics support to the security agencies operating in the state to enable them achieve their set goals and objectives of crime-free society.
