KTSG Partners NDPC, Hosts Northwest Data Protection, Privacy Training

Katsina State Government has taken a major step in advancing digital governance by hosting maiden Northwest Data Protection and Privacy Training.

The training program, organized by the Katsina Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (KATDICT) in partnership with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), will run from April 7th to 9th, 2025 with the participation of stakeholders from all seven Northwestern states.

A statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko said the event is in line with Governor Radda commitment to establishing Katsina as a regional leader in digital innovation and cyber security excellence.

Speaking during the takeoff ceremony, KATDICT Director General, Naufal Ahmad, explained that the training is a critical step towards building a resilient and secure digital future for the Northwest.

“As we digitize government services and expand digital access to citizens, data protection is no longer optional–it’s a foundation of trust,” said Naufal.

Dr. Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner of NDPC, praised Governor Radda’s foresight, stating, “Data is the new oil, but only when it’s protected and responsibly managed. This partnership with Katsina demonstrates strong leadership and sets the pace for other regions.”

Governor Radda’s administration has consistently recognizing the crucial role of digital literacy in modernizing public service delivery and creating new economic opportunities for Katsina residents.

The training exercise covers essential areas including the Nigeria Data Protection Act, data lifecycle management, organizational compliance protocols, and cyber security best practices. These,h participants with practical skills to implement robust digital safeguards across Northwest states.
