Dr Nasiru Abubakar Kigo, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office i has tendered apology to the Government and good people of Kebbi State over an unverified statistics on homosexuality and lesbianism in the state.
Address a press conference on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi, the perm-sec. said the apology was necessary in view of the fact that the figures given during a lecture he delivered needed comprehensive scrutiny and thorough verification.
Recall thatt the perm-sec had delivered a lecture at a programme organised by Aliero Estate Development Association in Birnin Kebbi on March 15, 2025.
Abubakar Kigo said the essence of the press briefing was to personally apologise for what he described as slip of tongue.
“I want to use this medium to tender my apology to Kebbi State Government as well as all other concerned individuals over the statistics I have quoted related to homosexuality and lesbianism in Sokoto and Kebbi States.
“I have admitted my mistake and I urge those that listened to me not to make use of these statistics. I also advise those who watched me through other social media platforms to delete it,” he advised.
Also contributing, Sheik AbdurRahman Isa-Jega, Chairman, Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Jos Headquarters, observed that every human being makes mistake, “but the best of those who make mistake is the one who repent.
“Therefore, if a person made a mistake and admitted his mistake, there is need for forgiveness from the concerned authorities.”
