The recent defection of Peoples Democratic Party, PDD to the All Progressives Congress, APChas been described as normal but uncalled for, unwarranted and premature.

The Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Appeal and Reconciliation Committee Alhaji  Shuaibu Idris Miqati mni disclosed this, while reacting to the recent mass defections of PDP bigwigs which is being celebrated by APC led Uba Sani administration recently.

In a statement issued to journalists recently, he said Nigerians shall be ready to witness another similar defections to the newly formed political alliances that is poised to give APC a good fight for it money ahead of 2027 elections across the country.

He said the APC leadership style which has plunged the nation’s economy in a dire situations of massive hunger, squalor, poverty and insecurity of lives of property as well as nepotism that has triggered serious backlash on the APC administration as a ruling party and created hopelessness among citizens of unprecedented proportion across the country

He  further pointed out that Kaduna state citizens and Nigerians in general should watch out with care and calmness for the unfolding scenarios that would amaze everyone in a near future since the APC government at national and States levels have failed to revamp the economy and put the nation on pedestal of genuine progress and development, commensurate with our God-endowed resources both human and material.

“If care is not taken, history would repeat itself. In 2014 a number of people left the PDP, a handful, indeed many of these people are back to the party. We live to see,” he argued.

Miqati further said it’s indeed a very sad and most worrisome development that would not assist the democratic spectrum, but demonstrated the kind of political class we have, who does have an iota of principle nor ideology to remain focussed, committed and ideological to their parties against the growing tide of bad governance of the ruling party, and in defence of democratic ethos.

He then said, while there are indeed issues as regards a number of events like party congresses and primary elections leading to the emergence of flag bearers in the last local governments elections, it’s insufficient reasoning for seemingly prominent PDP politicians to jump ship to the ruling party.

He said the Appeal and Reconciliation committee has commenced work immediately and in ernest with maximum support of Party elders and leaders, whom are committed to make amends where irregularities are established. With this development, can taking a leave from the party be justifiable? He asked.

“While people may have reasons to change their affiliation to another party, disagreements, differences, and challenges are customary and necessary in any gathering of people, no matter the level of homogeneity. Moreso if they are living in truth and honesty,” said.

He said it’s a painful lost to the PDP, but such is life and life is not constant, pointing out that the Kaduna State PDP could have done better if the congresses were held slightly in better condition, circumstances, and processes. Grievances from events such the exercises in question is not unexpected.

He blamed the mass defections to delays in reaching out to the aggrieved members. “Moreover, reaching out early to aggrieved party members as well as addressing the grievances of party faithfuls much earlier would have stem the tide. Politics is dynamic and change just as challenge is permanent feature. He concluded.
