New ranks come with responsibilities       NCS charges officers

The newly decorated officers of Nigeria Customs Service Zone B Headquarters Kaduna has been charged to rededicate themselves to duty and image of service.

The Zonal Comptroller Zone B, AAS Oleyede made the charge at a decoration ceremony of 60 senior officers with various ranks at a ceremony that took place at Headquarters premises Kabala Kaduna Thursday.

While congratulating the decorated officers and their families, he said the new ranks have responsibilities attached to them, which is to improve themselves to serve the NCS better and propel the image of the Service according to global best practices.

Eight officers were decorated with Comptroller ranks, (16 Deputy Comptrollers and 40  Assistant Comptrollers.

He said, it is the Comptroller-General of Customs who will do their postings himself, while  NCS would do allot of research about them in order to rightfully place all them in rightful sections, departments and units.

He emphasized that it’s new roles and new responsibilities in the way they behave themselves in office, at home, in public and everywhere.

It’s a call to action to be loyal to constituted authorities and society, including their families.

“I could remember the number of officers that sat for these promotions, but you should count yourselves lucky to have passed and now decorated with new ranks. And don’t look down at those that failed the promotion exams. Be cautious in the way you treat others. Your behavior must reflect your new ranks,” he said.

“Don’t just wear the ranks, but improve yourselves so that you offer your best to the Service for national progress and development,” he emphasized said

While delivering vote of thanks on behalf of decorated officers, Comptroller BS Sani said, they are grateful to Almighty God for seeing them through these years to have attain the new ranks, as well as the NCS for finding them worthy of these ranks.

He then assured the Service of their resolves to repose the confidence the Service places in them, to do their best.

The event’s highlights were exchanges of pleasantries, group photographs with family, friends and well wishers at the venue.
