Gov. Idris pledges support to LG

The Kebbi State Governor,  Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has assured his administration’s readiness to support the Local Government Chairmen in the state to deliver dividends of democracy to their people.

He made this known on Sunday at the closing ceremony of the two-day induction workshop on “Democratic Governance and Sustainable Grassroots Development” for the Local Government Chairmen across the state.

The workshop, held at the Dankani Guest Inn, Sokoto, drew all the 21 local government chairmen for intensive initiation to acquaint them with necessary rudiments of governance.

Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi State Governor dayed 22/12/2024 said Gov. Idris, who was represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari promised to support the chairmen’s vision and mission in accordance with the constitutional provision for them to achieve the desired successes.

He said that the present administration’s mission and vision was to bring people at the rural areas closer to government to enable them enjoy the dividends of democracy.

“I am assuring all the local government chairmen that this administration will continue to support you, especially in the area of training and re-training of the staff.

“This is with a view to ensuring that the staff are well equipped so that they can advance and deliver on effective local government administration.

“I want to ensure good governance not only at the state level but also at the local government level. This can be achieved by allowing the chairmen to exercise their rights and privileges as enshrine in the constitution,” he said.

He then advised them to always present their good ideas through the State Ministry for Local Government so as to improve the already established good governance across the state.

In his remarks on behalf of other council chairmen, the chairman, Birnin Kebbi local government, Alhaji Tahiru  Nayahy-Ambursa appreciated the Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, for organising what he described as educative and brilliant workshop.

Nayaya-Ambursa, who is also the ALGON Chairman in the state, noted that the knowledge  impacted on them was enormous, assuring that now that they were  updated and equipped, “we are not only good to go but excellently ready to go.

“We are now battle ready to execute policies and programmes that will have direct bearing on the lives of our people, which we believe will also make them happy.”

Many papers were presented by different scholars dwelling more on security and good governance among others.
