Katsina pays N70,000 minimum wage

The Government of Katsina State has agreed to pay the N70,000 minimum wage to its workers as approved by yhe Federal Government

The decision was arrived at after the state government and the State Joint Public Service Negotiation Council have finalized a landmark agreement to implement the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000.

This decision follows exhaustive negotiations involving representatives from the state, local governments, and the Local Education Authority, alongside labor leaders from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria.

Part of the agreement are the implementation of the new minimum wage and consequential salary adjustments for all categories of workers, effective from December 2024.

A joint commitment to fostering a culture of hard work, honesty, and productivity among workers at all levels of government.

The agreement was signed by the Head of Katsina State Civil Service, the Secretary to the State Government, and representatives of the labor unions, marking a significant milestone in labor relations within the state.

Labor leaders expressed optimism about the move, pledging to ensure that workers uphold the principles of dedication and integrity in their service. This development underscores the Katsina State Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of its workforce.

The new salary structure is expected to enhance the living standards of civil servants, signaling a new era of prosperity and cooperation in the state.
