Road users in Kebbi State and other neighbouring States have commended Senator Mohammed Aliero, Senator representing Kebbi  Central Senatorial District, for the repairs of collapsed bridge linking Northwest to Southern part of the country.

It could be recalled that the bridge between Kuchi and Rara towns on the highway linking Kebbi, Sokoto, and Niger states had collapsed on August 29,

It collapsed on Sunday night in connection with the recent heavy downpour which devastated Kebbi State and other neighbouring states like Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger.

Aliero, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Land Transport, repaired the collapsed bridge, which had posed untold hardship to motorists and farmers plying the road.

The motorists and farmers expressed delight and commendation in separate interviews on Monday in Koko/Besse Local Government Area of the state.

Alhaji Yahaya Malami, a commercial driver, commended Sen. Aliero for repairing the bridge to standard, saying it was like the bridge had been restored to its normal state.

He said any driver going to the southern part of the country had to follow Jega, then detour to Kalgo, Bunza, Suru, and Bagudo Local Government Areas and then return to his normal route in Koko/Basse for onwards journey to Southern part of the country.

Malami also urged drivers to complement the senator’s and government’s efforts of preventing road accidents through provision of good roads by avoiding excessive speed and overloading.

Also commenting, Malam Nura Abubakar, an articulated vehicle commercial driver, commended Sen. Aliero for the repairs of the Kebbe collapsed bridge on Koko- Yauri road..

“ We had thought that the collapsed bridge would take a long time before it was fixed, and now it has been fixed.

“ We are happy, and we are thankful to the Federal Government as well as the Sen. Adamu Aleiro for saving our lives and that of our passengers,” he said.

Abubakar urged motorists using the road to drive safely and abide by the road safety rules and regulations in order to protect lives, property and infrastructure in the area.

On his part, Malam Aliyu Rara, a farmer in the area, commended Sen. Aleiro for saving their farmlands. He said,” We could not cultivate our farmlands as we had no access to our farmlands when the bridge collapsed.”

Rara, thanked Sen. Aleiro for repairs of the bridge, while calling on the Federal Government to asphalt the repairs section of the road.

On his part, Alhaji Tsoho Alaye-Jega, a Supporter of Sen. Aleiro, commended the senator and urged the general public to laud the efforts of the senator in the provision of democratic dividends to his people in the state.

” This road, though, is federal road, but Sen. Aleiro took it upon himself to solely repair the road because of its economic importance to people, not only in Kebbi but from Sokoto State.

” This shows that we have a good representative representing our senatorial district at Kebbi Central, and we call on politicians and well-to-do individuals to emulate him,” he said.

Mmm Alaye-Jega, therefore, appealed to all Sen. Aliero’s supporters in Kebbi Central Senatorial District as well as other loyalists across the state to sustain their unrelenting support to Sen. Aliero to ensure provision of more Democratic Dividends from the Senator.
