Nutrition International,  Kebbi Agency Train 45 Health Workers

The Federal Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KBSPHCDA) has trained 45 local government Primary Healthcare Workers on Maternal Infant And Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN). The training was funded by Nutrition International.

At the opening of the 7-day training Course which is holding at the Conference Hall of Kamba Annex Motel in Birnin Kebbi metropolis, the Kebbi State  Coordinator of Nutrition International, Babatunde Lawani during his goodwill message said the participants were drawn from six local government areas of Kebbi State which includes Birnin Kebbi,  Argungu,  Augie,  Bunza,  Maiyama and Gwandu.

Lawani further said, Nutrition International has given the state opportunity to provide a step down training course to health workers in the benefiting local government areas on Maternal Infant And Young Child Nutrition for  better health services to the society.

According to him,  Nutrition International which has its headquarters in Canada, and 10 country offices in Africa including Nigeria has many projects across the Northwest and Northeast zones of Nigeria which comprises Jigawa, Kano,  Yobe,  Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi.and Bauchi States.

He said ” in Kebbi State we are supporting the State to implement three projects which are aimed at improving maternal and child health

 We are also working with the Kebbi State government to ensure that many hospitals are available for the accessibility to pregnant women and the new-born babies ” he added.

 Also Speaking,  the Acting State Nutrition Officer in Kebbi State,  Bello M. Aliyu said the success of the training was based on the efforts exhibited by participants.

He solicited them to pay attention to their facilitators in order to grasp what they can offer to patients at their facilities in their localities.

According to Malam Aliyu, the training is all about putting the participants on a right track in order to become ambassadors at their various facilities in Kebbi State.
