Hamas fighters launched a deadly attack on Israeli Defence Forces that resulted in the deaths of eight Israeli soldiers in Rafah. The attack, carried out by using rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), targeted military vehicles and ambushed a support force that had been deployed to the scene.
A report by Al Jazeera said thhhe assault on Saturday marked one of the deadliest days for Israeli soldiers in Gaza in months, escalating the already intense ground invasion of the southern region by Israeli forces.
Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that its soldiers “carried out a complex ambush against enemy vehicles” in the Saudi neighbourhood of the Tal as-Sultan district in western Rafah city.
The group revealed that they fired Yassin-105 RPGs at a D9 military bulldozer, resulting in casualties among the Israeli soldiers. Furthermore, a “rescue force” vehicle that arrived later at the scene was also targeted, leading to its destruction and the tragic death of all its occupants.
