The Nigerian Air Force, NAF has conducted airstrikes in the vicinity of Bakori Hills and Yartsintsiya in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State neutralizing about 29 bandits on Sunday, 9 June 2024,
According to reports, the airstrike resulted in the confirmed deaths of 8 bandits by gunshot wounds and 21 by bomb fragments. While the details are still emerging, it is believed that the operation also disrupted criminal activities and led to the escape of multiple kidnapped victims.
A statement from the office of the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed dated June 11 said among those who regained their freedom is the daughter of the Ruwan Godiya village head, who had been held captive for several months.
“The NAF continues to collaborate with ground forces and intelligence agencies to identify and neutralize criminal elements in the region.
Recall that armed bandits attacked Gidan Boka village in Kankara Local Government Area that left 26 persons dead including police and members of Community Watch Corps..
Kankara is one of the eight Frontline local government areas the are infested with bandits terrorizing several communities and completely sacked some.
Katsina State, located in the Northwest region of Nigeria is one of the worst hit states probably with Zamfara and Kaduna states leading the pack.

The efforts of Governor Dikko Radda has pushed the bandits to a corner which makes them resort to attacking soft targets in hard to reach areas and mostly at night.
