The new Controller General oof Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nang Nandap has sought the support and cooperation of the traditional rulers in order to tackle the influx of migrants in to the country through border axis.
She said this category of migrants sometimes could be high profile criminals who always terrorise the innocent communities in the nation.
Nandap made the appeal yesterday when she led the senior officials of the Immigration on a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gwandu, Major General Mohammed Iliyasu Bashar rtd at his Palace in Birnin Kebbi.
The Immigration boss told the emir that she was in his Palace to seek the blessings of the monach as well as his cooperation and support towards mitigating the illegal cross-border by non-allign movement of migrants through Kebbi borders in to the country.
She noted that there was no way security could be assured if unscrupulous elements could be seen crossing illegally and terrorising innocent citizens
“This this what we want achieved, stop illegal crossing through our border lands and this what the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fighting in order to have security in the country your Highness ” Nandap said.
“From here, I will have an audience with His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu to intimate him about our mission of visiting Kebbi State before proceeding to border areas of the state ” She added.
Emir of Gwandu, Muhammed Iliyasu Bashar commended her efforts in ensuring influx of migrants reach minimal stage in the state and the country. He described her initiative as commendable and as someone who is up to the task .
