FG commences sales of houses

In its efforts to address housing deficit in Nigeria, the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban development has commenced sales of houses under the National Housing Programme (NHP).

This was contained in a release signed by Dr. Marcus 0. Oguribiyi, FNSE, FNIAE, R.Eng, Permanent Secretary saying this was as conveyed in the circular referenced no DPBH/645/1/643 of 29th December 2023, in which the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has said has concluded the allocation of of the furst batch of completed houses across the states of the federation.

 The statement said “Consequent upon the review of the conditions and procedures for sales of houses under the National Housing Programme (NHP) as conveyed in the circular Ref. No. DPBH/645/1/643 of 29th December, 2023, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has concluded the allocation of the first batch of completed houses across the states of the Federation.

A total of 8925 applications were received, comprising a. Outright payment, 1294; b. Mortgage, 2408; C. Rent to own, 2184; d. Instrumental payment, 3039.

It further said “applicants under b, c and d above who should be subscribers to the National Housing Fund (NHF) are presently undergoing profiling.”

It announced to the general public is that the 1 batch of offer of New Provisional Allocation Letters for Outright Payment for successful applicants are now ready. The Federal Controllers of Housing and Urban Development in the states, and the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) will contact successful subscribers as from Thursday 18th April, 2024 for collection.

The statement finally notified the public that there are no completed houses in Abia, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers States and the FCT. Allocation of houses in these states will be done upon the completion of the housing units later in the year.
