A terrorists gangs launched an attack the Federal Government Special Grains Reserve (Silo) in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, attempting to destroy the place and abduct the Manager Mr Lawal Shitu Yar’adua,Saturday 6th April, 2024 at about 0100hrs.
The attack was repelled by the Katsina Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (Nerds), a statement signed and issued by DSC Buhari Hamisu, CDPRO Katsina Command has said.
It further said “The Agro Ranger operatives deployed to provide maximum security coverage to the Silo and it’s staff were on red alert and they responded swiftly, engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel for over two hours.
“The valiant operatives overpowered the criminals, who scaled the rear fence of the reserve and escaped with serious injuries. The Silo was not damaged, nor did the criminals succeeded in their nefarious act.
“Relevant Secuirty agencies were alerted for reinforcement, while we have detailed more personnel to be deployed to the location and to increase the firepower of the operatives on ground to prevent re-occurance of the attacks.
“The Command remains dedicated towards promoting safety and Security for the good people of Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole, as well as providing adequate protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure. “
