The Government of Jigawa State Has converted its airport to cargo airport to enhance international trade and promote economic growth.
The decision was announced by Jgawa State Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi,who said the move is part of a broader strategy to open up the state to global business opportunities.
Namadi revealed this development in Dutse, stating the state government’s commitment to leveraging the potential of the Maigatari livestock market.
He stated that the government is currently engaged in discussions with foreign investors to upgrade the market, which is renowned for its livestock trade.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Ringim said the state government is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, as well as other partners, to develop the Maigatari livestock market.
Governor Namadi expressed confidence that these initiatives would not only modernize the market but also expand its reach beyond Nigeria’s borders.
He mentioned plans to attract investors to develop modern facilities such as cold rooms and modern abattoirs.
The governor assured stakeholders of the government’s commitment to transforming the livestock sector.
He stated, “We have our airport here, and we are trying to see how we can convert this airport to a cargo airport, and when that is done, we will see how we can open our livestock market
