Katsina prepares for National Council on Environment meeting

The 17th National Council on Environment meeting is scheduled to hold in Katsina from the 11th to the 16th of December 2023.

 To ensure the success of the meeting the Governor of Katsina State Dr Dikko Umar Radda has constituted an 11 member Local Organising Committee, LOC to oversee the meeting.

Members of the LOC include the Commissioner for Environment, Musa Adamu Funtua, serving as Chairman, various Permanent Secretaries from the state’s MDA, including Muntari Kado (Environment), Muhammed Rabi’u Muhammed (Agriculture and Livestock Development), Safiya Ya’u Yamel (Health – Tertiary Institution), and Mannir Talba (Works, Housing, and Transport).
Other members of the committee include Salisu Abdu (Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Security, SGS Office), Kabir Amoga (Executive Director, SEPA), Isa Duwan (Director Protocol), Lawal Abdullahi (DAS, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the State), and Nura Ibrahim (SGS Office), who serves as the secretary of the Committee.

The committee was inaugrated by the  Secretary to Katsina State Government, Dr Abdullahi Garbs Faskari on behalf of Governor Dikko Radda.

Faskari disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by his Director of Press, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, outlined the primary responsibilities of the LOC, stressing their crucial role in coordinating with the Main Organising Committee to ascertain the number of delegates and participants expected to attend the meeting in Katsina.

The committee is also tasked with securing appropriate accommodation and transportation facilities for all attendees.

Among the key mandates entrusted to the Committee are the provision of extensive publicity and ensuring adequate security measures during the event.
