About 6,000 persons will benefit from N300million grant in Katsina State beneficiaries that would soon be disbursed as livelihood support Katsina State Community and Social Development Agency(CSDA) under NG-CARES programme.
The beneficiaries would be selected from twenty selected Local Government Areas in the State.
Shedding more lights on the disbursement of the grants, the Acting General Manager of CSDA, Hajiya Jummai Garba said the prospective beneficiaries would be women and youth who were economically active.
Hajiya Jummai Garba explained that, the operational staff of the Agency had since been mobilised to the twenty LGAs for validation exercise of the prospective beneficiaries.
According to her, the prospective beneficiaries were mined from the Katsina State Social Register obtained from State Operation Coordinating Unit(SOCU).
The Acting General Manager further explained that, prior to the disbursement of the grants the prospective beneficiaries would be trained on how to handle small scale businesses.
Hajiya Jummai Garba stated that, the grants was aimed at empowering the prospective beneficiaries to boost their businesses with a view to becoming self reliant.
She then commended the Katsina State Governor, Malam Umaru Dikko Radda, Phd for releasing funds to the Agency towards the implementation of NG-CARES programme in the State.
In his remarks, the Finance and Administration Manager of the Agency, Alhaji Magaji Yusuf Bakori said the prospective beneficiaries would be between 18 to 45 years of age.
He said the forthcoming disbursement would be for the second time saying that during the first phase of NG-CARES programme in the State about 516 people across 6 LGAs had benefitted from the grants.
Alhaji Magaji Bakori therefore called on the prospective beneficiaries of the forthcoming grants to utilise it for the purpose meant for so as to enable them achieve economic growth
