KTSG supports vigilantes families with N20 million

Katsina State Government has disbursed N20 million to assist 33 families of local vigilante members who lost their lives while serving their communities.

This was announced by Governor Dikko Radda during a ceremony held in Katsina on Saturday, where cash aid was presented to the families of the fallen heroes.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abdullahi Faskari represented Gov Radda at the occasion.

Under the initiative, some beneficiaries will receive a cash aid of N500,000 each, providing a helping hand during their time of need. Furthermore, 10 vigilante members who sustained injuries in the line of duty, along with a brave policeman, will each receive N250,000. Additionally, the family of a military officer who made the ultimate sacrifice will be given N1 million in recognition of their loss and their loved one’s dedication to the state’s security.

Governor Radda expressed his commitment to recognizing and appreciating those who have made sacrifices in securing the state. He emphasized that this gesture was an essential part of his campaign promises and underscored his administration’s dedication to combating insecurity and other criminal activities throughout Katsina State.

The governor made it clear that his office was open to advice and suggestions that would aid the government in fulfilling its promises to the people.

Alhaji Sa’idu Danja, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Support of Victims of Banditry, previously noted that the government had already expended over N11.8 million on the treatment of victims of banditry attacks. He explained that more than 80 victims had received free medical treatment at various healthcare facilities, with around 40 of them already discharged.

The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir-Usman, commended this benevolent act and urged the government to consider expanding its scope to encompass more victims. His message was conveyed by the Galadiman Katsina and District Head of Malumfashi, Alhaji Sadiq Abdullahi-Mahuta.

Malam Salisu Rabo-Kurfi, the State Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the government, recognizing the importance and timeliness of this support.

Malam Garba Musa, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, described the gesture as nothing short of miraculous, expressing their gratitude for this unexpected lifeline. He gave his assurance that they would make judicious use of the donations
