Senate Investigates Katsina Customs  command

A Senate Fact Finding Committee on the killings and misuse of firearms by Nigeria Customs operatives has visited Katsina State.

This is not unconnected with the recent motion filed by the Senator representing Katsina Central Senatorial District Col. Abdulazeez Musa Yar’adua on the floor of the Senate on the alleged killings of suspects and misuse of fire arms by the operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, particularly in the state.

Considering the motion filed by the Senator, which was unanimously adopted by the Senate, the Committee was established to investigate and find the actual happenings regarding the matter as well as come up with recommendations for proper solutions.

The Committee had already paid visit to the State Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda at Government House and the Palaces of Emirs of Katsina and Daura Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman and Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar respectively.

The Committee also visited the Comptroller of Customs In-charge of Kaduna and Katsina at Customs House Katsina.

At the Customs House, the Chairman of the Committee Senator Francis Fadahunsi briefed the Comptroller on the Committee’s mission where the Comptroller of Customs In-charge of Kaduna and Katsina  Mr.Musa Nura also responded to some questions from the Chairman of the Committee after which the meeting went on in closed doors.

Other members of the Committee include Senator Abdul’Aziz Musa Yar’adua of Katsina Central Senatorial District, Senator Muntari Dandutse of Katsina South Senatorial District as well as other two Senators.
