The Katsina-Daura Unity and Progress Forum has described the resolution of ECOWAS on situation in Niger Republic as something that has negative effect leading to socio-economic and political disruption in the West African sub-region.

The Forum made its stand in a communique shortly after its International news conference in Katsina.
The communique was signed by its AG.President Tukur Malami and Secretary General Labiru Musa Kafur, mni.
The Forum claimed that the action will provide an easy ground and sanctuary for local and foreign adversaries to facilitate physical and psychological assault on the country and threaten the strategic national interests.
It also believed that the situation in Niger Republic should not be an excuse for NATO, Russia and other superpowers to demonstrate their military prowess.
The Forum after extensive consultations with a cross section of people of Katsina State resolved to oppose and reject ECOWAS resolutions for military intervention against the military junta in Niger Republic.
“We wish to unequivocally reject any intention, resolution, or declaration by anybody (Country or Organisation), under whatever guise, to militarily invade Niger Republic in order to restore democracy, because it is poorly thought of, ill-conceived and deliberately designed to cause more harm than good, not only to Nigerians but also on the people living in the Northern states of Nigeria who inhabit the long stretch of the international border spanning Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe and Borno states.”
Another disturbing phenomena, according to the Forum was that the ECOWAS members were not unanimous in endorsing the military option.
It wondered if ever the Federal Government of Nigeria has considered the long-standing relationship between the two nations before spearheading this unfortunate misadventure.
The Forum therefore reiterated that the best solution against coups is good governance, free, fair and credible election.
Called on President Tinubu and the Federal Government to desist from supporting any aggression towards the Republic of Niger and turn its attention in addressing lingering insecurity, kidnapping, poverty and corruption which have made life in the country unbearable.
The Forum however commended Governors of states sharing common border with Niger Republic, especially Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State and the Northern Senators and urged all state Governors, members of the National and state Assemblies, traditional and religious leaders and the general public to stand up against this declaration of war.
