The government of Katsina State has approved the purchase of assorted grains and fertilizer for distribution to the vulnerable and farmers across the 34 local government areas of the state.
This was announced by Commissioner of Finance Hon Bashir Tanimu Gambo shortly after the maiden executive council meeting held at the Government House Press Centre in Katsina on Wednesday.
Gambo, who noted that the grains include rice, maize and fertilizer said committees will be constituted to ensure the products get to the beneficiaries. He added that a monitoring team would ensure that government directives are followed to the letter.
According to him, the committees would include members of the state executive council, local council chairmen, members of the legislature, the ulamas and others.
He however charged all those appointed to have the fear of Allah in the distribution of the commodities meant to ameliorate the hardship being faced by the people of the state.
The commodities would soon be procured to enable the people, especially the vulnerable in the society, get some relief as a result of the present hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy., yhe commissioner added.
Hon Adnan Abu, the state Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Investments, on his part, said a valedictory session was held for the Secretary to the Government of the state, Arc Ahmed Musa Dangiwa and Hajiya Hanatu Musawa who were nominated for appointed as Ministers.
Abu maintained that, during the session, the Executive Governor and members of the council poured encomium for the SGS, saying they would be missing his vast experiences and contributions to the growth and development of the state.
They however wished the two nominees Allah’s guidance and good health to succeed in their new assignments and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding them worthy to serve the nation.
Dr Salisu Bala Zango, the state Commissioner of Information and Home Affairs, in his brief remarks, assured working journalists and other media outfits in the state of his unflinching readiness to carry everyone along towards giving the state the desired publicity it deserves.
