The government of Jigawa state has subsidized fertilizer to farmers across the state to cushion the hardship occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal by the federal government.
Governor, Umar Namadi made the statement on Friday at the inauguration of a fertilizer distribution committee in Government House, Dutse.
Jigawa State Government has procured 200 truck load of the commodity for distribution to farmers in the state because his administration is determined to make available agricultural inputs to the teaming farmers in the State.
“We have procured 120,000 bags of NPK fertilizer, which will be distributed among the 43 retail stores across the state and to be sold at N16, 000 per bag” he said.
But Governor Namad warned against the diversion of fertilizer meant to be sold to farmers at subsidized rates.
He tasked members of the committee to supervise and monitor the sale of the subsidized fertilizer to farmers across the state for the 2023 wet season farming.
The Governor charged members of the committee to put more commitment and dedication to ensure that the commodity reaches the targeted farmers at a subsidized price.

“You have to discharge your responsibilities with justness and truth. Anybody found conniving with any group or individual to divert the commodity will be dealt with.
He urged people in the state to be with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in prayers and remain loyal as the fuel subsidy is meant for the good of the country and its citizens.
