The action taken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on dual foreign exchange rate and the stoppage of fuel subsidy as a crusade to salvage the country.
Senator Abdul’Aziz Musa Yar’adua of Katsina Central Senatorial District made the observation in a chart with newsmen in Katsina, Sunday
He believed that the President is working very hard on palliatives that would cusssion the hardship people are facing in the country.
“You know, what is important is to deal with those challenges the country is currently facing, especially insecurity and economy which he had already started.” He said.
The Senator registered his happiness that the expections are very high and urged Nigerians to exercise patience with demands.
“We should stop counting 30 or 40 days, what is important is he has four years to deliver. And that we should know that governance is not something that you just do either with a blink of an eye or just tapping of your hand, it would take time to plan if you want really do the right thing and that is what he is doing” he added.
He cited example of the setting up of adhoc Committee on Tax Reform which according to him indicates that President Tinubu has shown seriousness in making sure that things are going well in the country.
Yar’adua believed that Senators and members of the National Assembly would give him all the support he needs, adding that they are there not only representing their prople but Nigerians collectively.
On his immediate experience in the Senate, the Senator said it is too early now to assess anybody in the Senate.
On the advices to the newly appointed Service Chiefs, Senator Yar’adua believed that anybody appointed now is qualified as they are aware of the security challenges facing the country, claiming that they are his colleagues and have undergone several courses together and therefore advised them to always remain focussed.
