.Operatives Kano State Police Command have arrested a 25 year old woman, Rahama Sulaiman, for planning the kidnap of her six-year-old daughter (Hafsat Kabiru) and asked for a ransom of N3 million from her ex-husband for her to release the girl.
Thee arrest of the suspect was confirmed by the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, while peaking to newsmen at the Kano Police Command’s headquarters on Friday, May 12th 2023.
On 8th May, 2023, Rahama took the daughter and left her with one of her relatives in Madobi Local Government Area and told the person she would be for four days. She then told her ex husband that their daughter was missing and that she was called and asked to pay 3 million Naira.
It was reported that while the police was investigating the kidnap, they traced the location of the victim in Madobi Local Government Area.
When Rahama was arrested she immediately confessed that she planned the whole kidnap because her ex-husband did not give her money to feed the children for about 10 months.
“I called him and told him that our daughter was missing, and we went to the police together and reported the matter. Inside the police station, I gave him the number of the guy that would receive the ransom, ” Rahama narrated.
But Rahama,apologized for her action and her husband said that he has forgiven her.
