The Nigerian Government has urged Nigerian students and other Nigerians in Sudan, especially those in Khatcum to remain indoors as the Nigerian Embassy is working to obtain final approval from Sudanese authorities in order to initiate the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in the country.
Recall that on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Communication, Bashir Ahmad, released the following statement via his verified Twitter account.
Nigerian students in the war-torn region requested evacuation from the federal government. The occurrence elicited responses, with many criticizing the government’s approach to the matter. However, the presidency stated that the situation had caused the Nigerian government sleepless nights.
According to Ahmad, Nigerian authorities are exerting significant effort to guarantee the students’ safety. He wrote, “The Nigerian Embassy in Khartoum has once again called for calm and asked students and other Nigerians living in Sudan to remain indoors while they work to obtain final approval from the Sudanese authorities to begin their evacuation.
