Çensus 2023: Katsina innaugrates publicity committee

Katsina State Government has   has inaugurated a 24-man state National Population and Housing Publicity Committee and charged it to deliberate, strategize and sensitize the citizens on the conduct of the 2023 exercise in the state.

The committee was innaugrated by the Katsina State Deputy Governor, QS Mannir Yakubu at the Government House, Katsina, Thursday, saying a similar Committee has been constituted at the local government levels to ensure effective publicity coverage.

The committees were charged to carry out wide enlightenment and sensitization campaign on the upcoming 2023 National Population and Housing Census.

The Governor also urged them to evolve and implement effective publicity strategies for both the state and local government census publicity committees and co-opt any person (s) relevant to the execution of the assignment.

“Let me enjoin members of this committee to note the imperative of Census in Nation Building. For every country to develop, there is a need for accurate population data of its citizens to enable effective National Planning, Resource Sharing and Developments”.

“I have no doubt that you would carry out the assignment to the best of your ability and in the interest of the state”, he said, praying Allah will guide them to discharge their responsibility.

Engineer Bala Almu Banye, the NPC Federal Commissioner, earlier said in order to ensure that members of the committee have a good grasp of the processes and methodology of the exercise, a workshop would be organized to keep them up-to-date on the preparations for the census.

He reassured Nigerians, men and women, and the international community that NPC is irrevocably committed to ensuring that everything about the 2023 census is done right and professionally.

“We have the clear vision, commitment and capacity to deliver on this historic mandate”, he concluded.

Comrade Abdullahi, the state Chairman of the Civil Society Organization, in his remarks, commended the state government for the support given to ensure that census activities succeed in the state.

Abdullahi, therefore, urged all to participate in the exercise to enable the state to achieve the desired development
